About Department
The Department was established in 1973. It is one of the leading Social Science Departments in the College that has provided an applied edge to the courses being offered. The Department has its own library and well-equipped modern infrastructure for teaching and research activities. The faculty of the Department has been actively associated with student development activities in various capacities.

1. Imparting theoretical and applied knowledge of economics, conducting research on socio-economic problems at regional and national level for inclusive development.
Mission
1. To prepare students for acquiring applied knowledge of economics to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship.
2. To undertake quality socio-economic research for regional development.

Career Opportunities
The Department provides informal career guidance and placement services to the students. The requests by Principals of the Colleges and other agencies are notified to the students and are encouraged to apply. Teachers counsel the students appearing for competitive examinations. Need based training programmes in Research Methodology, NET Coaching and Computer and Quantitative techniques are also conducted to increase the employability of the Students.
